Project Overview: We are seeking two
Junior Network Engineers to support a large-scale infrastructure deployment across a newhospital facility in Indianapolis, IN. The project includes the construction and activation of
130+ IDF/MDF closets and the provisioning of over
75,000 network connections . This is a hands-on role with a strong emphasis on rack and stack, cable management, hardware installation, testing, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities: - Perform rack and stack of network equipment including Cisco switches, routers, wireless controllers, and infrastructure hardware.
- Install, terminate, and label copper and fiber cabling following hospital and EIA/TIA standards.
- Collaborate with the structured cabling team to ensure connectivity across 130+ data closets.
- Validate physical connections and port mappings for over 75,000 endpoints.
- Conduct quality control checks on installations to ensure all documentation aligns with the network design and inventory.
- Utilize network documentation tools to log and track connections, serial numbers, and asset information.
- Assist with turn-up and basic configuration as needed for staging and connectivity tests.
- Coordinate with IT, facilities, clinical engineering, and project management teams to meet build schedules and activation timelines.
- Support remediation or troubleshooting efforts during closet activation and go-live events.
Job Requirements Qualifications: - 1-2 years of experience as a Network Engineer in enterprise environments; healthcare experience preferred.
- Proven expertise in rack and stack operations for large deployments.
- Familiarity with Cisco network infrastructure (Catalyst, Nexus, Meraki a plus).
- Strong understanding of structured cabling, patching standards, labeling, and closet buildouts.
- Experience working in active hospital environments and compliance with HIPAA protocols is a plus.
- Proficient in using network mapping and documentation tools (Visio, NetBox, Excel, etc.).
- Strong communication and coordination skills for cross-team collaboration.
- Ability to lift and install equipment and cabling in elevated or tight spaces as required.
Preferred Certifications: - Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
Work Conditions: - Physical work across a very large hospital footprint.
- May require shift work or off-hours availability to meet project deadlines and minimize patient care disruption.
- PPE and adherence to clinical facility standards required at all times.
