Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Provide essential communication access for K-12 students by serving as a Certified Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic school setting. This contract position supports students in an educational environment, facilitating effective communication between Deaf or Hard of Hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff. The role requires on-site presence in Clovis, CA, within the Fresno United School District, from ASAP through June 11, 2026, with per diem hours to be determined.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modes accurately and professionally for classroom instruction, school activities, and meetings.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and education staff to ensure accessible educational content and participation.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines and school policies.
• Adapt interpretation methods to meet the needs of students across varying grade levels within the K-12 spectrum.
• Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Current National Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter.
• Valid credentials such as:
  Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 4.0 or higher
  Registered Interpreter of the Deaf (RID) membership
  Successful completion of the Educational Sign Skills Evaluation-Interpreter and Receptive (ESSE-I/R)
  Passing score on the National Association of the Deaf/American Consortium of Certified Interpreters (NAD/ACCI) assessment.
• Experience interpreting in educational settings preferred but open to interpreters with 0+ years.
• Ability to work effectively onsite in a school environment and communicate professionally with students and faculty.
