• Call Schedule: Our surgeons share primary and backup call evenly between 7 surgeons, daily primary call is shared evenly between 6 surgeons and transplant call is shared evenly between 4 surgeons.
• Practice Detail: We are seeking an experienced, BC/BE Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join a group of 5 established surgeons performing over 1200 adult cardiac cases annually.

Responsibilities

Ascension St. Vincent is actively seeking a board certified Cardiac Surgeon to join our team in the Indianapolis Indiana location. Responsibilities include all aspects of adult cardiac surgery, with an emphasis on cardiac transplantation and mechanical circulatory support.

Highlights:

• Join our team of 5 established surgeons, 3 of which participate in heart transplant surgery.
• On-call schedules are rotated evenly amongst the group
• 1:4 for transplant call
• 1:6 for primary surgical call

• As a leader in heart transplant and mechanical circulatory support, our program has been accredited as a Center of Excellence and is certified by the Joint Commission.
• We perform over 30 cardiac transplants per year and implant more than 60 short and long term mechanical circulatory assist devices
• We have an active cardiac surgery research program including research trials for DCD donors utilizing the TransMedics OCS system as well as the Evaheart clinical trial

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Indiana Medical Licensing Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
